Charly García llegó a los 75 con una fiesta recibida en Palermo y el de sus colegas

En 1950, Carlos Alberto García Moreno-doorwas born en Argentina, and on the morning of October 23, 2025, his 75th birthday became a collective celebration across the streets and stages of the country. The commemoration was especially concentrated at the intersection of Coronel Díaz and Avenida Santa Fe, in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, where fans gathered from the early hours to honor the musician.

The place, just across from García’s home, filled with flowers in red, orange and yellow, black ribbons and handmade signs featuring pentagrams attached to the windows. From the balcony, the musician acknowledged the affection of the people waiting below. It was a birthday scene that extended the emotional reach of an artist who has been present in Argentine popular culture for decades.

The celebration had music, memory and a generational embrace

One of the most notable tributes came from Colombian singer Carlos Vives, who identified García as a central influence on his artistic path and performed “El fantasma de Canterville” during the special program Reloj de Plastilina, broadcast by Mega 98.3. The program also recalled the figure of guitarist García López, another close collaborator in the musician’s career.

Lali Espósito chose a black-and-white photograph from García’s early years, quoted the chorus of “Necesito tu amor” and wrote “Amor total.” The gesture reflected a relationship marked by more than a decade of public admiration and shared encounters in the musician’s circle.

Moria Casán also recalled that García had invited her to the celebrations through someone close to him, although she could not attend. During a television appearance, the actress and vedette told an anecdote from the years when Fito Páez and García organized a Christmas party for her after she returned from nine days detained in Paraguay. “They told me: you’re our supreme rockstar, you were missing jail,” she said, describing that night as “divine and unforgettable.”

Fito Páez left a message in the early hours of the birthday, thanking García “for not being afraid,” a reference to the way the musician endured decades of Argentine history through his songs. Photographers who had portrayed him at different stages of his public career also posted archive images. Andy Cherniavsky shared a picture with the legend: “Today the greatest is celebrating, the one who tells our own story.”

  • Flowers, ribbons and signs covered the windows of García’s home in Palermo.
  • García appeared on the balcony to greet the fans gathered outside.
  • Carlos Vives performed “El fantasma de Canterville” on Reloj de Plastilina.
  • Lali Espósito, Moria Casán, Fito Páez and photographers joined the tributes with words and images.

Nora Lezano selected four photographs spanning a 1999 show and an encounter in 2025, and wrote: “Thank you for the life you gave me, Charly. I celebrate your 75 loving and admiring you as I did years ago.” The birthday thus gathered not only the affection of longtime listeners, but also the testimony of artists and professionals who accompanied García’s trajectory through the different stages of Argentine rock and popular music.
